[info]kaelie, may this coming year bring many hot tennis players for you!

I'm having a mini-House renaissance. All it took, really, was rewatching Three Stories. ♥ ♥ ♥ How can Hugh Laurie be so amazing? How can House?! I forgot how much there is to revisit in those good old days. Also, I hope they never ever change the opening credits, even as they continue to write half the cast off the show. Funny how back then, I liked Foreman, was mad at Chase, and hated Cameron. Now, I'd give anything to kill Foreman, get more than a minute of Chase a season, and I even kind of miss Cameron. She just needed some growing up, is all.

brief thoughts on the emmys

1. Lee Pace and Steve Carell are nominated for the same category. Ned the Piemaker and Michael Scott. Doesn't this say something about the limitations of the categories?

2. Ryan Seacrest and High School Musical 2 are both Emmy nominees. Ryan Seacrest is clearly more deserving. And yet. WTF?

3. Chuck was nominated for Main Title Design. Yes times infinity. I didn't know they had such a category. It's slim pickings these days with every show doing away with them, huh? I mean, I still maintain Heroes needs an opening credits sequence.

4. Danny Strong, you grew up well!!! ♥

5. Vanessa Williams FTW. And I love Betty, but what's with the America Ferrara nomination overdose?

6. Justin! How many years running can you get your name mentioned in the Emmy noms for something random? Awesome.

7. It's amazing how much I really just don't care. Which is...refreshing, after years of being a Buffy fan, etc.

what is up

You know, the longer I go without posting, the more things I accumulate to say, and the less likely I am to break the silence with anything worthwhile. So.

While in the checkout line today, I flipped through CosmoGirl, to--well, if we're being completely honest here, to see what Vanessa Hudgens had to say. As it turns out, not much. Anyway, then I read this article titled something like, "My mom married my high school classmate," and it was touted as a "real-life Demi/Ashton!" Which.

1. Demi and Ashton are real-life.

2. Demi Moore was not Ashton Kutcher's first-grade teacher.

3. That is all.

That is all.

Oh, okay. Also, I have excellent plans for the long weekend and am extremely excited. Yay.

things making me happy

Work is very very bad. These are not:

  1. Grilled cheese.

  2. Everybody Lies: An Office/House Crossover by [info]lz1982
  3. “It’s not that,” Michael said. “The problems of three people don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Chad Michael Murray, One Tree Hill.”

  4. Breaking the Girl by [info]wily_one24 (Veronica, Logan)

Happy is not quite the right word, but pre-series canon-fitting torture is apparently something I enjoy.

  5. Life under the Observer Effect by [info]annakovsky (Pam/Ryan, Jim/Pam)

    Um. Awesome.

  6. irreconcilable differences (or how michael scott came to loathe toby flenderson with all his being) by [info]honey_wheeler (Toby/Michael)

    Sosososososososo secretly canon.

  7. Thanks A Bunch! by [info]miss_bennie (Michael, Pam)

Because the end of Business School made me cry, no joke.

  8. Last but not least, Cupid's Chokehold, Jim-Pam-Karen style:

Nothing like being late to the party to find lots and lots of stockpiled goodies, huh?

Work has been...trying, but this is not that post. I'm just saying, that's why I've been out of it, and mostly all I do is watch an hour of tv and crash lately. Yes, I owe Krissy. :P

ETA: Oh! I forgot. And this really isn't a spoiler at all. But I can't wait until the cutting fics start pouring in for House. I'll wait a couple days and check fanfiction.net. Who will be the cutter this time? Probably Chase.

Brief and spoilerish. )

Re: The Office, circa 1997

When I said I didn't necessarily love Michael Scott, I was wrong.

Re: Work

Today was free scoop day at Haagen-Dazs, something I was looking forward to after work. Instead our team meeting ran over by two hours at the end of the day. Suuuuuuuck.

People, The Office started out as a fun thing to watch every now and then after work. And somehow near the end of season 2 it escalated into WOW. I'm in love with like every character. Almost. I wish I could go back now and read all the posts by you guys that I sort of ignored these past few years. College ate my pop culture. Suck.

Also? I never knew a pairing name could be as awful as LoVe for Logan/Veronica. Then I discovered Jam.

Also also? When I started watching Arrested Development, I hated Gob, then he became one of my favorite characters. When I started The Office, I was like, you know, Michael Scott reminds me a lot of Gob, except that I can't stand Michael.

Two seasons later...yeah. I'm predictable. I can't say I LOOOVE Michael, but there is something about his pathetic nature that is very endearing, and I totally think he and Gob are parallel universe versions of the same character type.

Anyway. Does anyone have any Office recs? Almost any pairing really.

reveling in the past

So I didn't go. I still feel like crap so it's for the best. Instead I'm home alone for the week and trying to figure out life. A very happy and very belated birthday to [info]withdiamonds, by the way, who absolutely rules.

Basically as soon as Buffy went off the air and college took over my life, I stopped watching TV regularly and missed out completely on the 2003/2004 TV seasons, including House and Veronica Mars. I did eventually discover those though, and the results were so good that I decided to keep it up.

So I've been alternating episodes of The OC with Arrested Development, and the combination works better than you might think. Yes, I'd never seen either, though The OC is one of those things you pick up information on through pop culture osmosis, kind of like HP (which I've never read). So I do know that I'm supposed to hate Marissa and Mischa Barton, and all this stuff, but I just can't, like not at all. I think she's adorable and her hips are mesmerizing and I basically love the entire cast and show and all its sunny earnestness and eagerness to be serious and musically hip. Intermix that with frozen banana stands? Win.

P.S. Seth and Marissa, they are screaming at me from the rooftops but I take it that never happens. Dammit.

Oh, and I'm on SPN strike until Krissy shows up. Take that!

Finally, happy JuC day, right under the wire in my timezone. I love those two something fierce.

I was away from media/computers all day packing and I just found out about Heath tonight and I have been catching up on the news since and moving from complete and utter shock and disbelief, to an overwhelming and inexplicable sadness, to complete anger, the latter courtesy of TMZ:

"Lindsay! Heath just died...any comment?"

I've never been so appalled and angry and WHY does TMZ exist? How? And is there NO line of decency? Why have I not been aware of this paparazzi game all this time? I feel like it's new, like it's been escalating, like maybe ever since there started being pictures online every other day of Justin pumping gas, up to now where there's live footage of Britney's every move and of people's deaths. I don't get it.
